Please have your individual roughs printed out and assembled for class. Should be addressing issues with the bottle and the box. One advanced rough for the bottle and one for the box. Need to work out issues. Due at the start of class. Will discuss the final portfolio assignments in class on Wednesday.

Please have a revised rough of your package. Those that didn't fully turn a direction please try another way for your rough this round. Work out fully. Thanks for your last final push with the UN material today. Good to have that off our desk.

Friday, April 28

Please bring your box and bottle that you would like to rebrand, research for your job folder on the company and product. Visual brief one for the bottle and it's direction and one for the box. Bring the bottle and the box that you would like to move the brand out to to class. We will be tearing these up to make dieline templates and thumbnails in class so don't come to class without the new bottle and box to play with.

Friday, April 21

Please keep up with your client and getting their approval. Must have their approval in writing before or job folder before it can go up on Sunday. Keep your client in the loop with roughs as you work through them. Goal for Friday is to have as much finished up so that you can easily say that critique will be no big deal on Monday.

Okay guys - just sent you an email with the specifics on the clients and their phone numbers. Didn't want to post their private information on the blog so be checking your mail box for the information concerning the client you have been assigned. Only one contested election this year so we made sure that was covered. The rest of the candidates were chosen at random. (aka pulled out of hat - Elias had fun making your selections). Good luck!

Please have your sports logo printed off for class, your individual standups resized, your salon and expo files enlarged to size. Christen's team please have your design tiled and numbered. Will be assembling the full size files on Monday.

Wednesday, March 29

STAND UPS

Remake your standups to size using the new 400 dpi files. I will update more on this as soon as I hear from our conference call tomorrow. But for now get ready to tile and print before Wednesday. If any changes occur I will post asap after meeting tomorrow.

NOTES AFTER MEETING
Some of these are going to world expo and some are going to the book fair in geneva. Long story short it looks like we will be doing close to four standups for the UN. Whohoo! Christen - we are going to go with yours for the book fair. Water scene with the boat, forrest scene with the chair and mirror, and another scene yet to design for africa will all be for the expo with no characters in it. We will be using the individual standups for that one. Looks like we will use only the characters on the individual ones - Little Red, Caden (little boy) - file coming, Elephant (see Kayli for illustration on this one), Misqueto and the Rat for the individual files. The backgrounds will be also dpi large file they are going to send us.

Cardboard dude to get those has been no where to be found so we are probably going to wait to tile these and assemble until Friday. Please print and number them off so we have the files ready to go just need to put them together.

RESUME & COVER LETTER
2nd draft of each will be due in class on Wednesday to look over and finesse. More you have the more you can edit before the final is due on Friday.

FRIDAY CLASS
Will be a solid work day on the standups. Tiling and putting them together. We will take measurements and make sure they are sturdy to get our quote on the pricing for them.

Include these files in your stand up job folder.

1. Please create a visual brief for a "movie style multiple character" poster
2. Thumbnails (your call on how many you want...need to have at least a sheet included)
3. Rough of Poster....printed out on 11x17

Use the character files that we provided and think about creating setting and scene with those characters. Have some fun.

Wednesday, March 22

Please create as a team two individual standups of the characters. They must have a space for the SDG tile to be switched out. Please have these printed and assembled and ready to photograph in class for Wednesday.

Monday, March 20

Please create three functional mock ups of your collective standup with your groups. The three mock ups should keep the same elements but look different in style and support. Use the file characters that we received today. Fingers crossed we get some larger scans but no guarantee. We are hoping for three functional ones to take photos of to show the UN our direction on Monday.

FOR CRITIQUE
Please dress in business casual. You need to have your files in your frame. Make sure both sides of the object are visible. Please place a bit of tape behind them to make sure that they are secure in the frame. You will be discussing the job in the frame like you are pitching to a client. Make sure that you are prepared for logistical questions. Finals should be all printed and cut to size. Make sure that your business cards are printed on card stock and no less weight than 90 lb.

Please make the changes and do another rough of your booklet. Please have printed as a booklet form in your rough. Will look over draft and discuss critique requirements for Friday in class on Wednesday.

Monday, March 6

One reworked rough of your business package is due printed out before class on Monday. Print to size - envelopes need to be full size and assembled. Must be ready to view at start of class or points will be deducted. A rough of branding guide is also due in printed form for class on Monday. The final critique for full project will be on Friday.

Monday, Feb. 27

FOR MONDAY
You need to have your two branding boards ready to pitch. Sorry we didn't have time to review those today in class.

You need to have three pages of thumbnails per item of your business stationary package. You will need to have business cards, letterhead, envelope (3 pages an item / divided in the thumbnail so can show front and back). Please have these in your job folder. Start a visual brief and print it off so you can get ideas before you start thumb nailing.

Wednesday, Feb. 22

FOR CRITIQUE

Only need to have your files printed out on landscape 8.5x11, color. Center the logo on the page. One business per page (8 pages total) - these we look at in class will be the finals you use in your job folder.

No need to dress up for this one. No summary needed. We will spend the rest of the day after critique covering branding boards and how to make them.

Monday, Feb. 20

Have your second set of roughs. Decide what direction to head (4 logos and 4 logotypes). Will have eight (1 for each business) roughs due on Monday. Job folder must be up to date - will be checked for progress. Make sure your last set of roughs have one logotype and one logo worked out to count for full credit.

Friday, Feb. 17

Please have your first round of roughs finished for the entire set of logos and logotypes. They need to be printed out and in your job folder for class on Friday.

Wednesday, Feb. 15

Please start the process of creating digital roughs (2 per business) for all eight businesses. These roughs will be due (all eight) on Friday. Please get as much done for Wednesday as possible so I can look these over and give as much feedback as possible. Wednesday will be work day.

Friday, Feb. 10

Please finalize your chosen businesses. Research - Mind map and ask the question - who is the target market and what are their motivators. Have this on an 8.5x11 page per business attached to the research for each business. Thumbnails are coming so start working if you want to get a jump on things. Will be 4 pages of thumbnails per business.

Wednesday, Feb 8

Choose your 10 businesses that you would like to remake their logo. No churches, dentist, chiropractic or photographers all to hard to separate from imagery to create new identity. Print off three pages on each business.

Monday, Feb. 6

DUE ON MONDAY

Go for a walk / a errand - take photos of every brand that you see. Recreate the brands in illustrator into a crest. Identify the brands out to the right hand corner of the piece in gill sans 11 pt. (single spaced). Center the final crest. Limit the color scheme to create a unified whole. Please bring your crest for the "modern commercial man" to class. Printed in color on 8.5x11.

Make sure to save your office olympic pictograms to your computer. We will hit the definitions of branding hard on Monday. Please be sure to have your ideas for businesses to redesign starting next week.
