Thursday, Feb. 24

Hi guys,

Spilt your logos in half...25 logos (symbol and word) and 25 logotypes. Do 50 sketches for each logo in the style that you have designated...you don't have to do half logo and half logotype. You need to have 50 thumbnails numbered for each business. You need five businesses finished for Thursday. Also be applying the things that you learned in class. Do brainstorming out to the side to help you develop your logo imagery as you go. Remember what helped a logo's message and what hurt. Think about the way that the business conducts business is there a way to incorporate the number meaning that we talked about today into the logo? Think abstractly...remember churches and photography businesses hard to stay away from being too literal. Also...side note when I did this project as a student I had 150 thumbnails to do per business so no whining! I've been there...you need to do this development...it is essential practice to good branding. Don't forget to number!!

Use 10 elements of your logo to make a crest. These must be printed out in color for Tuesday on 8.5x11 with parameters given in class. Also you need to select 10 businesses that you can create a logo. These can be local to your hometown or anywhere. You must be familiar with the business and how it operates. You will create 5 logotypes and 5 symbol logos (combination of symbol and logotype) in this set of logos. Have these original logos in class on Tuesday. Be prepared to have you sketchbooks on Monday. We will be talking more about logo anatomy. Also YOU DON'T have to dress up or have these underglass. They will be part of your sketchbooks.
