Monday, April 7

You need to be cranking on this over break. Only a few more work days left before the 14th. Be in contact with each other as you work through ideas over break. Have your logotypes (2 pages - together) finished, have 3 pages (a piece) poster thumbnails and 3 pages (a piece) standup thumbnails. Please be working toward your roughs at this point. Again because of the nature of the beast with working with clients these folders will not be checked in progress but please remember that you need to complete each step of the process before moving forward. Thumbnails do you no good after the fact. We will use Monday as a solid work day so bring materials to dummy and start working on your stand ups.

Wednesday, March 26

Contact your director as a team. Don't both of you email different emails instead use the lovely CC option. You can talk in person, facebook, whatever. Please print off the conversation for your job folder or take notes from the conversation put in your job folder. This will count as your research. After first contact with your director, come back with a visual brief. Start generating thumbnails with your partner. Please have these completed printed out along with research, visual brief in your job folders for Wednesday. We will start working on thumbnails for posters and working out standups.

2 pages of thumbnails in group for logotypes for the film
3 pages of thumbnails for posters
3 pages of thumbnails for stand ups

This will be due at 8 am on April 14 in the PAC hallway. We will talk about design decisions on poster work and standup construction on Wednesday.

CRITIQUE DAY ON MONDAY

2. Roughs (2 sets per item - more if developed while heading toward final)

*Please put your business cards in a sandwich baggie and attach to inside of job folder. This will save both you and I from loosing them. 

FINALS MUST BE - Printed front and back. Cut to size (8.5x11 must be printed on 11x17 if cutting to size with bleed). Business cards must be printed on card stock and cut to size. Envelopes must be glued together and functional. 

No need to dress up for this - doing a fast and furious kind of critique on this. We will be starting the design process for our film festival work on Monday.

Have six working printed roughs (cut to size / front and back - 2 roughs per item) work out the through your good ideas. Dont forget JOB folder check is Wednesday. Will collect at start of class so be ready to go. points will be docked if not ready at start of class. We have very limited time before client work is coming so will start talking about next project. So we can get enough time in on things before break.

CRITIQUE DAY!! Please have all 10 business represented by 10 8.5x11 print outs. Please make sure that all your five required logotypes and five required logos are represented. Prints should be in color. White background ONLY!! Centered on both the vertical and horizontal axises. Portrait orientation. You will be marked off on the critique portion of your grade if these rules are not followed. No name or anything else besides the logo should be on the paper.

JOB FOLDER
Please staple your individual business packets (5 pages of research in a packet) put on the left side of the job folder. Label business name_researchPg# in bottom corner.

No dressing up needed for critique. Have all your logos printed out and ready to be displayed for speed critique on Wednesday.

We will be discussing and starting business card brain storming on Wednesday. Be prepared to start the thumbnail train for next weekend.

Monday, March 10

Please have two additional roughs per business. Due at the start of class on Monday. I talked to each one of you in class. Go in the direction of the logo indicated during the talk. Continue to work through placement issues, ideas, kerning and color in these final versions. Work in color if you haven't already. Make sure they are in separate new pdfs. The final versions of these logos will be due on Wednesday printed out on 8.5x11. More details on that on Monday.
